I can honestly say that this experience had a significant impact on me. I am much more aware of how cancer affects the lives of not only survivors and their families but also caregivers, researchers and fundraisers.
?The topic for our blogging club this week is “Lessons from Movies”. Last night I saw the latest film in the dystopian genre. Dystopia is opposite of Utopia. It’s a society or culture you wouldn’t want to be in. Someone with power is dominating the powerless, occupying someone’s land or oppressing those who are different. Sound familiar?. The hero’s in these stories don’t want to be there either. They either expose and nullify the villain or change the system and rescue the oppressed. Kate Winslet (whose artistry I admire) plays the villain and Ashley Judd plays the Mother of the teenage heroine, who discovers why she does not “fit-in” in a society where fitting in somewhere is everything. I wonder why these films do so well?.
