What’s better an old fashioned planner for Christmas?

PlannerIt’s really good to be back at our local blogging club (Creative Blogs Inc.) here at the Cumberland Business Incubator in Crossville, TN.

Our Chief Blogger always has a ready made topic waiting for us along with hot oatmeal and fresh fruit.

Our topic today was “Hot New Products for Christmas”. Well, I searched the subject and really?, everything that came up was techno-digital-gadget type stuff. Where has the time gone! is my mind playing tricks? I can remember when my Brother bought my Mother a Crock Pot for Christmas!

Yes, it takes me a lot longer to unlearn the old in order to learn the new than most folks. And yes, I have my 2016 planner from Staples ready to go. Mabey my new-year goal will to be to learn how to use the planner on my Samsung note 4.

It’s ok, you can laugh at me if you want to, I know I make these things a lot harder than is useful, and sometimes at 64 I feel out of place in this world but I’m pretty sure I’m not alone.

Young Living Essential Oils

YL BannerAt Natures Way Massage we are proud to announce that we are an independent distributor of Young Living Oils.

I have been researching therapeutic oils combined with massage for ten years and have found these oils to be very effective is assisting in the therapeutic journey. I can think of several instances where when massage/bodywork was not getting the desired results the application of these oils brought success. I believe this is because they speak to the body/mind connection in the reaching of therapeutic goals. When used in a proper diffuser, essential oils can help during winter months to prevent the spreading of colds from one person to another.

Not only are they helpful with therapy but they can be used in the cleaning of the home and laundry as well as providing a line of personal care products. Many use Young Living essential Oils to make their own body scrubs and bath salts.

If you would like to learn more about these amazing oils click here, scroll to the top of the page and click on essential oils.

Are Smartphones making people socially stupid?

Cell Phone RespectThere are 7.2 billion people in the world. To date, there are 7.9 mobile devices in circulation.

Last week I saw a documentary on PBS about cell phone addiction. There are rumors that cellphone addiction will be added to the next DSM as a mental illness.

One of the bloggers in blogging club shared about driving to Michigan to visit with her Grandkids and was amused that they spent most of the time staring at their smartphones.

This is the sad but true case with my Grandkids as well. I’ve noticed that many young people stare at their phones while in public places with friends or family, I wonder if social skills need to be revisited in schools. Its my observation that social intelligence is best learned through modeling or by example. As adults what are we modeling for our young?

3 Challenges; Why are we here? Purpose, Presence and Purpose

challenge-680x453 (2)In Blogging Club last week the topic was Challenges. So off I go again with my philosophical ranting about life’s varied challenges only to discover that the topic was specifically about the challenges of blogging.

Our Chief-Blogger mentioned in His Post that all bloggers agreed that posting on a regular basis and coming up with intriguing content was THE CHALLENGE. This is why I come to blogging club weekly, at least I can get a post started and am challenged with a topic I wasn’t expecting. I can always edit and post it later which I usually do because I am much slower that most of the other bloggers.

On a philosophical note, I believe the image above really has three characters not two. we must have a purpose grounded in peace and focused on being present. We must get not only our head but our heart in the game. We have got to have fun also while seeking out mentors and seeking to mentor others along the way. Time is relative. The only true time is now.

Being a massage therapist is very rewarding because we truly help others out of pain and stress induced fatigue. However performing massages has taught me to focus down and be truly present and solidly grounded. I’m incredibly grateful for the varied occupations my journey has given me; artist, musician, minister, administrator and massage therapy. Thanks to all the mentors along the way.

March 2015 Comes in Like a Lion on the Plateau bringing with it the Hope of Spring

Lion_SunFolks here are still weary from the ice storm last week. Still, there are approximately two hundred residents without power in Cumberland County. The psychological effects of this storm are daunting for sure.

Personally, I want to remember a few things from our experience. Because we had a wood stove and plenty of wood, we had 12 people staying with us. One of them was a truck driver who was staying at his Mother’s house while she was in Florida for the winter. Early Sunday morning, we got a call from a friend who was panicking because her husband was running out of oxygen. Continue reading

FAITH: Step 1 = Action

Today is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. faith-kingThis image is a quote from Dr. King and is one of my favorites. “Faith is taking the first step, even when you don’t see the whole staircase”.

What is Faith?                                                An online dictionary states; A complete trust or confidence in someone or something. Also; a strongly held belief or theory.

Concerning faith, many quote the bible, “faith means being sure of something hoped for and knowing something is real even if we do not see it.Continuing with the bible; it appears that the quality is of more importance than the quantity or size.”If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can move a mountain, nothing is impossible”. It’s not the amount of faith but the strength of conviction that results in action before the fact.

10 “if you can” Statements to assess Your Spiritual Fitness for the New Year

spiritual fitnessMassage Therapists, Yoga Teachers and Life Coaches all speak of being spiritually fit or holistic, referring to the balancing our lives “Body, Mind, Spirit”. But what is Spiritual Wholeness or what does it mean to be attuned spiritually?. We in the West understand these ideas easier if we can compare ourselves with some ideal or target behavior.

In our blogging club (Creative Blogs Inc.) ,our Chief Blogger gave us an editorial calendar entitled “the official council blogs communication plan”. On this excellent tool we were asked to choose a theme for each month and then write on a different topic each week.

I have dedicated the month on January to the subject of spiritual growth. Its difficult to even say the word without triggering preconceived maps of how to even define the word.
